Artecnica
While stumbling through the bloggers block this morning, trying to search on a slow connection I came across this really cool site that got me out of my sleepy rainy day syndrome. Artecnica is a great find, I don't know how well known it is in the blogger design world but I thought it was a good find that is worth taking a leisurely browse. Now, how cool are these bottle stoppers. Translucent, colourful resins that add just a little extra for a dinner party with friends.

Oooh, these are gorgeous. Great find. I know what you mean about the slow connection. I used to live in Mexico and it was almost painful to go online. But I'm sooo glad you have the patience. Thanks for the great find and for linking to me on your blog. k
Blogger's block? Ya gotta be kidding - you're prolific! Speaking of which, better feed my hungry blog...
Haha! Thanks Heather, I always try and keep my content focused, but it is really hard sometimes. Thanks for the comment!
By the way, I've been writing to Chris Roper of the 24.com blogs, who has been trying to convince me to come over and have a blog hosted by them. He reckons 1000 local hits daily! It took me so long before I hooked up with other local bloggers, I'm wondering if it's worth moving, although browsing their blogs showed they were mostly text-based. What are your thoughts?
Wow 1000 local hits a day! That is pretty tempting, and they would be checking out your portfolio at the same time...hmmmm tempting....I must be honest I am very happy with blogger ,I looked at local hosts for blogs but was not happy with the navigation or templates(I know this can be changed). It would be great to tap a local market and develop a business strategy from it, but I am trying to gather an international base of viewers and expand from there bring South Africa to them instead of keeping it within the borders...Whats your thoughts?
I have been giving it a lot of thought, and what I would like to see is a collaborative model formed between South African bloggers, 1 in CPT, 1 in JHB and 1 in Durban that post SA design and trends all working under the same blog title and grow it from there. Your thoughts?
I can't say I've ever thought of my blog having any kind of strategy. I just use the thing to keep a record of what I'm doing, and I get thrill when someone reads and comments. But I have been getting revved up about getting more SA news out there, and consequently more hits on local blogs, and have been writing to Grace at Design Sponge with updates on local designers. No luck with a posting yet tho'.
Ja, I've looked at the blogs at 24.com and most of them are wordy blah blah from bored office workers and News24 writers. I couldn't find any design or art-related blogs there at all. So there's a gap, but is it worth filling?
I think I'll just stick to my tried and tested self-promotional efforts (like writing to you) and see what happens next.
