Postage Stamp design
One area of design which I think is definitely underrated is postage stamp design. I have always wondered about the process behind creating these tiny designs that cross borders and showcase a countries heritage to the world. I definitely prefer the odd shaped stamps like the circular stamps and triangular stamps. If you want to see numerous stamp designs just type "postage stamps" into google images.

when i was little i used to collect stamps, too, so my mother gave me two albums with stamps that belonged to my grandpa. today i still look at them for inspiration. there are so many beautiful stamps!

i often think about this too.
