Daily dose of imagery

Sam Javanrouh records his daily life and experiences through his photoblog. He posts a shot a day and his images are beautiful. If you leave your mouse pointer over the images on his blog, it gives you the technical detail behind each shot. From ISO values to equipment used, very helpful! All prints are available to purchase.

Kelvin

Colour is everywhere and major feature in our lives, from our homes to the clothes we wear. Colour trends are often inspired by nature and the world around us. Selecting the right colour in a design is crucial to the success of your design and how it is perceived. Kelvin, a book on colour usage, is a good place to start if you need some injections into your colour palette.

M65 Field Jacket

The M65 limited edition Field Jacket is available from Kidrobot stores. Unfortunately it is a whopping $250! I love the simple black exterior, the jacket when opened explodes with colour from the inside.

Portrait Friday Competition

Im going to have a little fun before Xmas, so I would like everyone to send me their favourite portrait. It can be a photograph, illustration or painting and can be of anyone. I will post them up next Friday the 21st of December after the public holiday that Monday, so you got plenty of time! (mail to: garypatitidotac) Can't wait to see them! To get the ball rolling I have posted mine. It is this amazing shot of Sir Edmund Hillary. It shows his strength and rugged character in this beautiful black and white shot. It is very inspiring! Please include a link to your site/blog so I can put those up to!

It is the season to be jolly and give, so Spray Glue is running a competition for the Best Portrait submitted by Friday 21st December. Please provide portrait (can be a famous shot or any sort of portrait - be creative!) and why you like it, to the address provided above. The Best Portrait + Reason why you like it will be given a prize! (The prize will be revealed soon!)

Superhotjoy!

By far my favourite Durban/South African band is Superhotjoy. Garret the lead singer used to come by ITI and sell us these gourmet sandwiches to fund his music. Besides the amazing sandwiches we used to devour, the bands CD cover design has to be put into my top 5 CD designs of all time. It was shot in the Durban Museum, an old relic filled with stuffed animals that leave you feeling slightly haunted. Of course it was done by Disturbance Design...of course.

Don't judge a book by its cover.

Found via Rebound Book, Thomas Allen blew me away! It's not just the the fact that they cut out but the concepts behind each shot, for example the boxer who is shadow boxing. I would love to own one of these pieces for a wall one day. Beautiful!
